Garage Door Opener Reprogramming
The process of reprogramming your garage door opener is actually very easy and can be done in just a few minutes. But remember, if you can not do this or facing any problems while trying, be sure to hire a garage door expert. Here are the five steps
Step One:
Disconnect the cable from the garage door opener. You can do this by either unplugging it from the wall or by disconnecting it from the garage door itself. If you have a battery backup, you will need to remove that as well.
Step Two:
Find the “Learn” button on your garage door opener. This is usually located on the back of the unit, but it may also be on the side or front. The button will probably be a different color than the rest of the unit (usually red or purple).
Step Three:
Press and hold the “Learn” button for approximately six seconds. After a few seconds, you should see the light on the unit flash. This means that it is in “learn” mode.
Step Four:
With the unit still in “learn” mode, press the button on your remote control that you want to use to operate the garage door. The light on the opener unit should flash again, indicating that it has learned the code from your remote.
Step Five:
Release the “Learn” button and test out your new remote! You should now be able to operate your garage door with the remote control.
General Tips for Programming Your Garage Door Opener
-If you are having trouble finding the “Learn” button, consult your garage door opener’s manual.
-If you want to program more than one remote control to your garage door opener, you will need to repeat steps four and five for each remote.
-Some newer model garage door openers have a rolling code feature. This means that the code is automatically changed each time you use the remote, making it more difficult for someone to “hack” into your system.
