In the past decade, Everite transitioned from a “sleepy provider” of wood stile and rail doors to leading the industry with high-end wood, vinyl and composite doors, Everite President James Wistar said.
“Our new direction has attracted an ‘A’ list of customers that includes political figureheads, Hollywood stars and sports-industry leaders,” Wistar said. “We’re proud to be a part of Bedford County’s legacy of producing some of the country’s highest-quality products.”
Founded in Paoli, near Philadelphia, Everite moved its garage door manufacturing business to Everett in the 1960s, after the owners built a 75,000-square-foot manufacturing facility the company still calls home today.
“The building had direct railroad access,” Wistar said. “Workers unloaded wood from trains coming from the West Coast, assembled the doors, and sent them all over the eastern U.S.”
Since the ’60s, Everite replaced the facility’s roof and slapped on a new coat of paint, but the building remains mostly the same and has plenty of room for expansion.“Our goal is to make this building a state-of-the-art wood-production facility,” Wistar explained.
Although the company’s president lives in Philadelphia, he said he looks forward to the commute each week.
“I enjoy coming out here where life is simpler and easier,”…
